Commission denies Eboom LLC rental agreement to operate fireworks at county fairgrounds

Several commissioners said they were not convinced the benefits outweighed the staffing demands and community concerns; one commissioner said publicly they would not support approval “unless somebody can convince me otherwise.”
A motion to approve the rental agreement was moved and seconded and put to a roll-call vote; the clerk recorded all negative votes and the motion failed. Board members indicated they would prefer not to repeat an arrangement that generated complaints for staff and the public.
What happens next: The rental agreement was not adopted and the county will not enter into the proposed contract with Eboom LLC. Staff and the public suggested any future proposal should address the prior year’s complaints in writing and demonstrate stronger safeguards and revenue justification.
