Board approves three administrative appointments at Gilbert Public Schools

The Gilbert Public Schools governing board unanimously approved three administrative appointments on March 31, moving the items earlier in the agenda to allow public recognition and immediate votes.
The board voted to approve Carrie Castro as principal of Mosqu (Mosquite/Mosquet) High School for the 2026–27 school year after a motion and second. Castro, who told the board she has worked in Gilbert for five years and served at Mosqu Junior, thanked the board and said she was “very excited” to continue serving students and staff she knows from the feeder campus.
Trustees also approved Elise Torbert as principal of Gilbert Classical Academy. Torbert said she was “truly honored to accept the position,” thanked district leadership and described GCA as an “extraordinary school” whose culture and foundation she hopes to build on.
The board approved Tyler Dumis as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning for 2026–27. Dumis thanked the board, recognized his family, and said he was honored to serve in the role for the community where his children attended school.
Each motion was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote with no recorded nay votes; appointees were invited to make brief remarks and to take photos with board members after each confirmation.
