Summary

City officials used the April 1 meeting to give advance notice of two large Indiana Department of Transportation projects that will significantly affect traffic in Crown Point this season.
Staff said INDOT plans a Broadway culvert closure north of Summit Street beginning April 13 expected to last about 150 days. Separately, INDOT intends a full closure of the 113th Avenue overpass beginning April 19 through September. Officials warned the concurrent closures will increase local traffic on alternate routes such as East and West Summit Street and 109th and said the city will post detours and coordinate with emergency management and law enforcement.
Mayor Land said the projects are state-controlled and the city does not set the timeline, but pledged to increase public outreach through city channels. Chief and EMA coordinators discussed plans to monitor trouble spots and assist drivers who become stuck or encounter oversized vehicles on detour routes.
Officials urged residents to watch city communications for detour maps and updates.
