Comcast pitches broadband expansion in Bradford County, highlights affordability programs

Sam Walzer, Comcast's government affairs representative for Northeast Florida, said Comcast expects to pass roughly 4,335 homes and businesses in Bradford County as part of this year’s build. He promoted Comcast’s Xfinity residential brand, Comcast Business services, a 5-year price-guarantee offer and the Internet Essentials program at $14.95 per month for qualifying customers.
‘‘Once you're a Comcast Xfinity customer, then you can purchase Xfinity Mobile,’’ Walzer said, and touted Comcast’s cyber-security and outage-detection systems. He also advised residents to check xfinity.com/mytown to see when service will be available at specific addresses.
Commissioners asked whether the company already serves the southern end of Stark near the Walmart and whether coaxial lines are being converted to fiber. Walzer said parts of the corridor already have service, that the build prioritizes unserved or underserved areas, and that customers can provide addresses for specific follow-up; he said more expansive builds are expected this year.
Commissioners thanked Walzer for the presentation and noted Comcast crews already working in Brooker. The presentation concluded with the company offering to follow up on coverage maps and address-specific plans.
