North Babylon students honored for county and Long Island music festival selections

The board recognized dozens of student musicians from elementary through high school for selection to county and Long Island music festivals; the district thanked staff, chaperones and parent volunteers who hosted and supported festival participants.
During "Music in Our Schools Month" the board recognized student musicians selected for county and Long Island festivals. Director of Fine and Performing Arts Miss O’Brien thanked music staff, custodial and security employees and parent volunteers for hosting the multi-district events and called participants forward by festival to receive certificates.
Miss O’Brien noted North Babylon served as a host site for roughly 400 students from about 20 districts for county festivals and singled out three students who were first-chair selections in their ensembles. Parents, teachers and district principals joined students on stage for photographs and recognition.
The board and audience applauded the students’ performances and the administration thanked organizers and volunteers for their work supporting music education across the district.
