The Madison County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 24 adopted a proclamation honoring the Rotary Club for completing its 1,000th home-access ramp in the county.
The board said the Rotary Ramp program has provided ‘‘critical access and mobility’’ to residents with disabilities, seniors and others facing physical challenges, and framed the milestone as reflecting decades of volunteerism, intergenerational teamwork and local business support. Commissioner Adams moved to adopt the proclamation and Commissioner Chandler seconded; the measure passed by voice vote.
Commissioners and county staff invited Rotary members and volunteers forward for photos and brief remarks. County officials highlighted related volunteer efforts across recreation, senior centers and the volunteer fire department and encouraged residents to support local fundraisers.
The proclamation resolves that the 1,000th ramp will be commemorated as a testament to community compassion and civic dedication. The board thanked the Perry family and other volunteers recognized during the meeting for their long-standing contributions.
