Operations committee outlines scoreboard, backstop and HVAC projects; identifies reserves to fund work

The Delaware Valley Regional High School District operations committee reported priorities and cost estimates for several facilities projects, including athletic‑field equipment and HVAC work.

Operations chair Mr. Fraley told the board that the fire alarm specification was incomplete and must be re‑quoted. He said a replacement quote from A&J to repair or replace outdoor scoreboards came in at $27,855; boosters have pledged $10,000, the class of 1968 $1,000 and St. Luke’s $9,000 toward scoreboard purchases, and the remaining balance could be covered from the current budget if needed. The softball backstop was estimated in the range of $34,650 to $42,000, and the committee discussed options for dugouts and a stormwater-related construction timeline (two to three weeks once soil conditions permit).

Mr. Fraley also updated the board on HVAC work: most rooftop curbing appears complete, two gym units are awaiting startup and the cafeteria unit delivery has been delayed to June 10. He reported fiscal reserves available for capital needs: a capital reserve of $685,334 and a maintenance reserve of $280,340.

The committee did not move to universally approve new contracts in public session; instead, members flagged required follow-up items: obtaining a corrected fire-alarm spec and pricing, confirming final bids and a funding plan combining donor gifts and budgeted funds, and scheduling the next operations meeting for April 13 to finalize next steps.

Board members asked clarifying questions about cost ranges and the level of remaining contingency in the capital budget; no formal vote on these capital items was recorded in the meeting minutes.
