Board approves CodeHS textbooks for AP computer science after teacher review

Dorchester District 2’s board on March 9 approved the adoption of instructional resources for AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles based on unanimous teacher recommendation.
Dr. Emily Delantis, assistant director for CTE, described the adoption process used this winter: sample materials were provided to teachers at all three high schools, teachers completed feedback and voting forms, and the pro‑version of CodeHS emerged as the unanimous choice for both AP offerings.
"All three teachers voted unanimously for the CodeHS textbook for both classes. It's a very robust resource," Delantis told the board, adding that CodeHS complements resources teachers already use.
The board moved and approved the CTE textbook adoption (motion by Mr. Lee, second by Mr. Farnsworth; vote carried 6–0, 1 absent). Dr. Delantis said the adoption fills a prior gap: the district had lacked adopted texts for both AP computer science courses.
