Acting Senior Planner Cory Mulcaire explained staff recommended an immediate revision to Section 509.B.1 because the town’s existing ordinance required a full re-plat whenever a lot division increased the total number of lots, creating a conflict with the state statute. Mulcaire outlined how the new local text would preserve zoning compliance while allowing the single lot split authorized by state law.
Mayor Marie Moore opened and closed the public hearing with no public speakers. On a motion by Councilor Robert Foreman, seconded by Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier, the council approved Ordinance 2025-A509 on a 7-0 roll call vote.
The ordinance takes effect according to the town’s codification schedule; staff said they recommended the targeted amendment rather than waiting for a comprehensive code rewrite to ensure compliance with state law.
