Temple City — The Temple City Council on March 17 adopted Resolution No. 26-5861 reciting the facts of the March 3, 2026, general municipal election and declared the winners of two council seats and that Measure TC passed.
City Clerk Peggy Quo told the council the clerk’s office completed the legally required canvas of the election on March 12. “The city conducted a general municipal election on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 for two council member seats and one city measure,” Quo said, and recommended the council adopt the resolution reciting the results.
Following Quo’s presentation, a motion to adopt Resolution No. 26-5861 was made and seconded and the council voted by roll call. The council recorded affirmative votes from Council member Chavez, Council member Chen, Mayor Pro Man and Mayor Sternquist; the resolution was adopted.
As part of the ceremonial matters, the council presented the oath of office and a certificate of election to Council member Tom Chavez. The record notes that council member Vincent U is recovering from surgery and will be sworn in before the next meeting.
The council then conducted its reorganization. William Man was nominated and seconded for mayor and elected by roll call. Council member Ed Chen was nominated, seconded and elected vice mayor. Council members took their new seats and exchanged brief congratulations.
The council approved the consent calendar in a single vote without item removals; the roll call recorded unanimous approval by members present. Before adjourning the formal meeting, the mayor announced that remaining recognitions and presentations would continue at a reception at the Temple City Women’s Club next door and closed the public comment period.
Next steps noted in the meeting: Vincent U is expected to take his oath prior to the council’s next scheduled session.
