Commissioners renew interlocal to provide school resource deputy at Crossroads ISD

Henderson County Commissioners unanimously approved the annual interlocal agreement with Crossroads Independent School District to provide one school resource deputy.
A county official explained the county has one such interlocal in place (Crossroads ISD) while other districts have hired their own police departments. Under the agreement, Crossroads ISD funds 80% of the deputy's cost; the court stated that amounts to nearly $60,000. When school is out the deputy is available to perform county duties such as patrol and taking walk-ins.
The court authorized the county judge to sign the agreement and thanked law enforcement and development staff for cooperating on address corrections and radio-system integration that support joint responses.
The motion to approve the interlocal agreement passed unanimously.
