Stevens said the district had allocated the full one-year learning-recovery block grant—$545,000—to summer school, credit recovery and enrichment across kindergarten through 12th grade. "We have allocated the full amount of $545,000 to provide summer school credit recovery as well as enrichment for our K TK through 12th grade students," Stevens told trustees.
The presentation used a traffic-light framing (red = not started, yellow = in progress, green = complete) and included site-level responsibilities, funding sources and implementation leads. Stevens highlighted uses of Prop 28 funds for arts programming and a new youth cinema project at the middle school, and noted investments in professional development and staff-recognition efforts tied to district goals.
Trustees asked several follow-up questions. A trustee asked whether foundational literacy tutoring for kindergarten through second grade covered all seven elementary sites; Stevens confirmed it does. On graduation outcomes, Stevens reported a 92% graduation rate; trustees asked for disaggregation of the 8% who did not graduate, and one trustee estimated that number was "less than 70" students, with some completing as fifth-year graduates and others pursuing alternative routes.
