DPW outlines salt procurement approach; Treasurer praises restored fund balance

Deb Donohue, Superintendent of Public Works, told the committee the county's salt bid has been awarded and that DPW plans to combine purchases — partly through the Office of General Services contract and partly through the awarded vendor (Atlantic) — using five-year-average usage to guide procurement. She said the OGS application is due Thursday and that some municipalities are following a half-and-half approach.
Treasurer Al Nolette told the committee he will report next month on final 2025 results and praised Donohue for controlling costs and restoring the DPW fund balance to about $1.3 million.
No formal action was taken on salt strategy at the meeting; Donohue said she wanted committee input before finalizing purchase allocations.
