Public Works Committee forwards two federally funded bridge projects to full Board

Deb Donohue, Superintendent of Public Works, told the Washington County Public Works Committee on April 28 that the county will forward two Marchiselli federal-aid bridge joint-replacement projects to the full Board for approval.
The first, labeled CR-24 Hill Street over the Battenkill, covers joint replacement on two bridges (the Easton/Greenwich crossing over the Battenkill and a second bridge in Granville over the Mettowee). Donohue said the projects are funded 80% by federal Marchiselli funds, 15% by the State, and 5% locally; she stated the county’s local share for the CR-24 work is $19,361. The committee voted to forward the project to the full Board.
The second project covers the Lock 8 Road Bridge in the Town of Kingsbury. Donohue said total construction funding assigned was $1,762,100 with $361,070 allotted for design. She said Washington County will not pay the local share for the Lock 8 project because the Industrial Development Agency will cover $88,105. The committee moved to forward the Lock 8 Road Bridge Marchiselli project to the full Board and adopted the motion.
Both referrals will be placed on the Board agenda and — as Donohue noted during discussion — a corresponding budget amendment will be presented to the Finance Committee to reflect the Marchiselli reimbursements and the county local share. Treasurer Al Nolette told the committee that the State appears to be moving positively on Marchiselli reimbursements, which affects county cash-flow planning.
The committee’s action sends the formal project resolutions and supporting budget language to the full Board for final approval and any required budget adjustments.
