Buildings & Grounds reports completed projects, leaking pump at landfill and roof damage at Job and Family Services

Facilities Director Steve Blausey briefed the Board of County Commissioners on April 28 about completed and ongoing Buildings & Grounds projects across county properties.
Blausey said parking-lot improvements at the East Gypsy Lane Complex were completed, 911 center upgrades are substantially finished and courthouse maintenance corrected a cistern issue at the Public Defender's property. Work continues on CPC 1 renovations, replacement of doors and locks at the Juvenile Residential Center, and planned concrete repairs on the Courthouse Complex. The county will enter agreements to replace the Atrium roof and to address drainage repairs in the Office Building parking lot.
Assistant Administrator Dan Scherger reported that one of two leachate pumps at the county landfill failed; the pumps discharge roughly 120 gallons per minute. Scherger said a replacement pump costs about $25,000–$30,000 and has a 4–6 week delivery timeline. He said he and Landfill Superintendent Matt Limes will meet with Northwestern Water and Sewer District staff to discuss options.
County Administrator Carri Stanley said recent windstorms damaged the Job and Family Services building roof and the repairs are estimated at $35,000; Fiscal Manager Aimee Chafins is working with the county’s insurance carrier on the claim. Blausey also noted museum site improvements to the north parking lot and that Museum staff recently received awards from the Ohio Museums Association and the National Alliance on Mental Illness for a video project.
Schger (sic) reported the county fleet currently includes 253 vehicles; maintenance responsibility for that fleet rests with Buildings & Grounds. The meeting concluded at 10:09 a.m.
