Delta Dental reported strong plan performance for Wood County’s 2025 benefits, with county members using in-network providers at a substantially higher rate than the broader Delta Dental book of business.
Robin Serwatka, senior account manager for Delta Dental, told the commissioners that 95% of county members used in-network providers in 2025, compared with about 70% across Delta Dental’s broader book of business. She said preventive care is the largest single expense and that routine cleanings among employees rose from 2024 to 2025. Serwatka said plan costs and the number of plan members have remained consistent over recent years and that new providers continue to join the network.
Human Resources Manager Janese Diem briefed the board on wellness screening activity administered through Wood County Hospital. Diem said there were 128 new wellness screenings in 2025 (including some spouses of new employees); of those screened, 13 individuals were identified with a high A1C and either were unaware of elevated levels or did not have the condition under control. She said 41 employees participated in the annual screenings and that the county’s aggregated health score was just below a 70 benchmark. Diem said the 2025 wellness program costs totaled $68,000, which included flu vaccines, and that the hospital is using a new vendor for 2026 wellness services.
County staff and the board thanked Serwatka and Diem for the update. Commissioners did not take formal action on benefits at the meeting.
