During the April 16 meeting, Delta Dental Senior Account Manager Robin Serwatka and Human Resources Manager Janese Diem updated the Board of Commissioners on employee dental plan performance and wellness screenings for 2025.
Serwatka said Wood County members had 95% in‑network utilization in 2025, above Delta Dental's 70% benchmark, and that the number of members and plan cost have remained consistent in recent years. She said preventive care accounted for the largest share of spending and that routine cleanings for employees increased from 2024 to 2025.
Diem said Wood County Hospital conducted 128 new wellness screenings in 2025 (including some spouses of new enrollees); 13 people were identified with a high A1C and nutrition and weight were noted as risk factors. Forty‑one employees participated in the annual screenings. Diem said employee mental‑health management generally tested well but that relaxation scores were lower and that the county will use a new vendor for wellness services in 2026. She reported the 2025 wellness program costs totaled $68,000, which included flu vaccine provision.
Commissioners thanked the presenters. County staff noted the importance of employees understanding their health scores and the role of preventive care in controlling long‑term costs; no staff proposals to change plan design or county contributions were made during the meeting.
