Museum Director Annette Wells said the exhibit, titled "Wood County: Past to the Future," is scheduled to open May 7 and will feature items ranging from early-1800s survey equipment to a 1950s kitchen display. Curator Holly Kirkendale noted state-recommended themes—farming, transportation, first responders, fairs and festivals—will inform the exhibit; the Engineer’s Office donated 19th-century survey equipment for display. BGSU intern Alex Eckhart said a "wish wall" will be included to gather comments from younger visitors and prompt engagement.
Wells said the museum is planning a slate of events and fundraising-support activities, including Free First Friday programs, a March Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt, lecture series tied to America250 programming and partnerships with local chambers for sponsorship. Grounds and facility work includes ice-pond brush removal and concrete pad installation for picnic areas.
Wells said social-media engagement informed the wish-wall idea. "This will give them another platform," she said, describing the museum’s goal to attract younger audiences. The commissioners thanked museum staff for the update.
