County approves plans for Cattail Bay cement-stabilization job; bids to open June 1

Commissioners authorized plans and specifications and directed staff to advertise a cement-stabilization road project on Cattail Bay, estimated just under $650,000 with State Revolving Fund (SRF) support.
The road superintendent and county engineering staff explained the scope: substantial subgrade work, clay import or salvage in some stretches, cement stabilization, and a new gravel surface with a targeted PI spec. The engineer noted the construction-engineering contract for the project is fully reimbursable by the state.
County staff set a June 1 bid opening and proposed a Sept. 18 completion date. Commissioners voted to approve the project going to bid and to enter into a construction-engineering services agreement so the county can proceed with procurement and state paperwork.
Officials warned that the work will require substantial staff coordination and haul capacity and instructed the road superintendent to publish a timeline and work with harvest schedules and county operations to reduce disruption.
