Huerfano County commissioners approved several procurement and contract items on May 5 aimed at updating county technology and maintaining core services.
County staff presented a master equipment rental agreement to establish a continuous technology refresh program that would lease computers and peripherals instead of purchasing them outright. The board approved equipment schedule 26-01, which lists items to be provided under the agreement including seven ThinkStation desktops, 12 monitors, a ThinkPad, network switches, a meeting bar, microphones and four printers.
The board also approved a voice services agreement with Vericom to replace the county’s current phone vendor. Staff said the switch will place the county on a single system with additional features and estimated an annual savings of about $900 compared with the existing arrangement.
A computerized system maintenance agreement for the county recorder system was presented and approved; the transcript contains a monthly amount of "$1,095" and also references a separate maintenance premium of "$3,995 per month" in the packet. The meeting record shows the board approved the recorder maintenance item; the transcript was inconsistent about which specific line item corresponds to which service and the packet should be consulted for exact contract terms.
Separately, the board approved a purchase order (PO 2026-14) for a Black Widow arena groomer for the Gardner Rodeo Arena for $8,850. Staff said the county is tax-exempt for the purchase.
All procurement motions were moved, seconded and approved by the board during the regular meeting.
