TAC approves consent agenda and July minutes; members note MTI grant, model bike parking ordinance and trainings

The Transportation Advisory Committee opened its Sept. 5 meeting with routine business and approved the consent agenda (motion by Bruce Hoar, seconded by Tom Dipietro) and the July 11, 2023 minutes (motion by Jonathon Weber, seconded by Kurt Johnson); both motions passed unanimously.

Under members’ items, the group reviewed the VTrans Mobility and Transportation Innovation (MTI) Grant Program, which supports projects that improve mobility for transit-dependent Vermonters and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The committee noted the application is open to municipalities, regional planning agencies, transit agencies, school districts, non-profits and citizen groups; an application deadline was listed in the packet. Members also discussed a Model Bike Parking Ordinance prepared by Local Motion, intended as a template for municipalities to adopt requirements and graphics to reduce non-conforming racks and setbacks.

Staff highlighted upcoming Tier 2 Rivers and Roads trainings at the VTrans Training Center (Oct. 11–12) and explained the Tier 1 slideshow background materials and sign-up procedures. Bryan Davis asked about interest in holding the next TAC meeting in person; members expressed a preference for a hybrid option. The next TAC meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at the CCRPC office (110 West Canal St., Suite 202, Winooski) with hybrid participation available.

Chris Yuen moved to adjourn; Sam Andersen seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
