Concord Township honors scholarship winners, wins preservation award and reports Earth Month activities

The council opened by recognizing four recipients of the 2026 Concord Township Scholarship: Darnesh Singhvi (finance), Kanushi Gupta, Pilar Ruiz Escobar (biological sciences/premedical) and Benjamin Mayer (Texas A&M, business). Dana read the citations and invited the students for a photo with the council.
Council members also noted that Concord Township received a preservation award for restoring the Palmer Barn at Bush Hill Farms on Bethel Road; John Gillespie described the barn as "one of the last working barns in Delaware County" and noted the township made it accessible for visitors.
Crossley and Amanda summarized Earth Month activities: 100 native trees planted (65 at Temple Road open space, 35 at Bushell Farm) with 75 volunteers; a spring recycling day saw 425 cars participate and diverted 13,500 pounds of electronics and 6,250 pounds of paper; the township distributed 100 redbud trees and estimated the plantings will absorb about 4.36 tons of CO2 per year once mature. The parks and recreation board also reported upcoming events including a pickleball tournament on May 15 and lawn debris pickup on June 1.
