Vandalia council approves equipment and recreation‑center purchases; both pass unanimously

On May 4 the Vandalia City Council approved two procurement resolutions: the purchase of a 2025 Bomag BW138‑80‑5 asphalt roller for the Public Works Division and a centralized recreation‑center audio/Public Address system.
City Manager Kurt Althouse said the capital improvement budget included $82,000 for a roller replacement; staff recommended the Bomag model based on operator input and value, with a purchase price of $65,359 including trade‑in and an extended 84‑month warranty. The council voted 6–0 to approve Resolution 26‑R‑28.
Parks and Recreation staff recommended replacing a failing, outdated recreation‑center audio system. Two bids were received; staff recommended iVideo Technologies at $106,044.98 over a lower bid because of full system integration, scalability and reduced long‑term maintenance. The additional approximately $31,045 will be covered by reallocating funds from other projects. Council approved Resolution 26‑R‑29 by a 6–0 vote.
Both purchases were authorized to proceed through cooperative purchasing contracts (Sourcewell for the roller and the State of Ohio cooperative purchasing program for the audio system). The council did not request further public hearings for either purchase.
Votes and motions recorded were: Resolution 26‑R‑28 (approved 6–0); Resolution 26‑R‑29 (approved 6–0).
