Bradley County Commission approves minutes and consent agenda; resident raises landfill allegation

The Bradley County Commission met in regular session May 4, 2026, and unanimously approved the April 20, 2026 minutes and the meeting consent agenda. Commissioner Howard L. Thompson made both motions: first to approve the minutes (seconded by Commissioner Daniel Beaty) and then to approve the consent agenda (seconded by Commissioner Bobby Goins). On roll call both motions passed 12-0 with two members absent.
Attachments to the consent agenda listed a request from the Medical Examiner to dispose of a 2015 Ford Explorer and a Road Department request to dispose of an Eagle 27 pug mill mixer. The consent materials also included a slate of individuals to be commissioned as notaries public; those names were recorded in the clerk’s attachments. The disposal forms and the notary list were recorded as meeting attachments and were approved on the consent agenda vote.
There were no separate agenda items for individual discussion or vote at the May 4 session; the published voting-session agenda noted there were no agenda items and the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
During a related work session on April 28, 2026, commissioners provided routine district reports and a member of the public, Todd Beals, alleged that the Bradley County landfill is being operated improperly. The minutes of that work session record the allegation but do not record an immediate response or subsequent directive in the minutes.
