Nemaha County commissioners approve road contract, IT renewal and several rights-of-way

The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners on May 6 in Auburn unanimously approved a series of contracts and administrative actions, including a $68,799.22 road contract with Final Grade Construction and a three-year renewal of IT services with Five Nines.
The board voted to sign the contract with Final Grade Construction for Project Johnson SW C-64(354) for $68,799.22. The motion to sign the contract was made by Commissioner Mike Hall and seconded by Commissioner Bryan Mellage; roll call votes were recorded as Hall, Mellage and Chairman Michael Weiss voting aye.
Commissioners also approved a three-year renewal with Five Nines for county IT services. The board approved monthly costs of $2,333.80 in year one, $2,443.80 in year two and $2,560.50 in year three. The motion to renew the contract was made by Mellage and seconded by Hall; the vote was unanimous.
Other approvals included two right-of-way applications: ROW application 2026-07 from Windstream Nebraska for work at 72142 638 Ave, Auburn, and ROW application 2026-08 for the Auburn Board of Public Works located near Nemaha. Both motions passed on unanimous voice roll calls.
The board approved a 60-month lease with Eakes Office Solution for a multifunction printer for the Veterans Service Office at $56.34 per month and authorized purchase of a new computer for the County Attorney’s office staff. A driveway agreement for Harry Larson at 64686 732 Rd in Peru, NE, and a reimbursement payment to Shawn Peck for $182.60 were also approved.
The board appointed County Clerk Diane Johnson as the Budget Making Authority for Nemaha County for fiscal year 2026–2027; the motion to appoint Johnson was made by Commissioner Bryan Mellage, seconded by Hall, and carried unanimously.
Why it matters: The road contract and IT-services renewal commit county funds and set near-term implementation schedules; the budget-making appointment centralizes the next fiscal year’s development. The board recorded vendor and payroll claims in the meeting record and authorized payment.
The meeting recessed briefly (sine die at 9:45 a.m.) and reconvened at 10:10 a.m. With no further business, the board adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
