DeSoto County accepts Agri‑Education Center waterline closeout, extends Feathers contract

DeSoto County accepted final closeout documents for the Agri‑Education Center waterline project and extended a related contractor agreement at its Feb. 2 meeting.
Will Bush of Waggoner Engineering reported that all work on the Agri‑Education Center waterline was completed and inspected as of Jan. 9, 2026, and asked the Board to approve the final acceptance letter and the final construction change request that sets the one‑year warranty start date of Jan. 9, 2026. The Board approved the closeout documents and authorized Board President Jessie Medlin to sign.
Separately, County Administrator Andrea Pettigrew told the Board that Ralph Feathers' contract for the Agri‑Education Center expired Dec. 31, 2025. The Board voted to extend Mr. Feathers' contract and authorized the Board Attorney to revise the contract terms as needed.
Board documents and the final change request will be included in the official minutes and the warranty period will begin Jan. 9, 2026.
