Board grants Park District extension to finish clubhouse sprinkler installation

The Architectural Board of Review approved the Lake Bluff Park District’s request to extend the deadline for installing a new sprinkler system at the clubhouse through the end of the year, after Park District staff said missing original drawings and required surveys made the prior short extension unrealistic.
John Mueller of the Lake Bluff Park District explained the district had asked for shorter interim approvals in the fall but now seeks a longer extension because original plumbing drawings for the clubhouse could not be located and construction drawings must be recreated; he said the district hired WT Group to produce new surveys and prepare bid documents. Mueller said digging a 10–15 foot trench to connect a new 4‑inch water line to the existing main during the busy golf season would create a safety and operational hazard, so construction is planned for fall months.
Todd Abrams of WT Group reviewed the site logistics and said the best water-main connection point is at the southwest corner of the building; he noted the team hopes to submit permit paperwork by the end of the month and to begin construction in September or October. The board asked clarifying questions about whether the work was a new main or an extension and confirmed the park district understands the scheduling impacts.
A motion to extend the deadline as requested was moved and seconded; roll-call votes recorded unanimous approval and the extension passed.
