Clerks in the House read a slate of committee reports that recommended amendments to several measures, and the chamber ordered Senate Bill 66 postponed indefinitely.
The Committee on Judiciary reported that House Bill 1426 and Senate Bill 169 were amended and recommended to the committee of the whole with a favorable recommendation, the clerk announced. The Committee on Health and Human Services reported amendments to Senate Bills 17 and 138 and also recommended them favorably to the committee of the whole. Later, the clerk announced that Senate Bill 66 was being postponed indefinitely.
The Committee on Transportation, Housing and Local Government reported that House Bill 1430 be amended as filed and indicated a message would be referred to the Committee on Appropriations with a favorable recommendation, the clerk said.
The clerk also introduced a group of new measures. House Bill 1431, sponsored in the House by Representatives Bacon and Soper and in the Senate by Senators Gonzales and Judah, concerns demonstrating competency for occupational licensure portability and was assigned to the Committee on Business Affairs and Labor. House Bill 1432, sponsored by Representatives Soper and Stewart (and Senators Roberts and Peltin), concerns health-care payment programs and was assigned to the Committee on Health and Human Services. House Bill 1433, sponsored by Representatives McCluskey and Velasco (and Senators Cutter and Roberts), concerns funding to sustain the firefighter behavioral health benefits program and was assigned to the Committee on Appropriations.
The clerk read two Senate-origin bills. Senate Bill 115, sponsored in the Senate by Senators Gonzales and Weissman and in the House by Representatives Bacon and Mabry, concerns post-conviction relief for certain offenders and related appropriation language; it was assigned to the Committee on Judiciary. Senate Bill 152, sponsored by Senators Ball and Pelton and Representatives Wilford and Baron, concerns changes to the use of automated vehicle identification systems and was assigned to the Committee on Transportation, Housing and Local Government.
Representative Soper was recognized and moved that the House stand adjourned until Wednesday, May 6, at 9 a.m.; the House adjourned to that date and time.
Next steps: the amended bills reported to the committee of the whole will appear on committee-of-the-whole calendars for further consideration; assigned bills will be scheduled for committee hearings by the committees to which they were referred.
