Reno County accepts Fire District 6 resignations and appoints interim chief Bobby White

The Reno County Commission on June 8 accepted the resignations of the fire chief and assistant chief in Fire District 6 and appointed Chief Bobby White of Fire District 3 as interim chief to assess the district's capacity to provide emergency response services.
Staff (S9) recommended Chief Bobby White be appointed for a 60‑day interim term to provide written and oral reports to the county administrator and the governing body on District 6's operational capacity. S9 said compensation for the interim appointment would be agreed upon by the county administrator and paid from Fire District 6 budgeted revenue.
The motion was moved and seconded and approved by roll call with the commissioners present voting yes. Commissioners discussed leaving the motion flexible so that the interim might continue until a new permanent chief is selected or until the board takes further action.
The commission then moved to an executive session to discuss non‑elected personnel matters; staff and county counsel were to remain for the closed session. No substantive changes to the interim appointment were announced before the executive session.
