Parks staff report: pools nearly ready, tournaments packed and Greenwood storm assistance noted

Recreation and trails staff updated the Greenwood Park Board on facility readiness, staffing and storm-response activity during the May 5 meeting.
Recreation staff reported that two of three pools have been filled, that lifeguard and other staff certifications are underway and that facility-specific trainings and emergency-action drills are scheduled to complete opening preparations. Staff said the next few weekends will be used for hands-on facility training and emergency role-play to prepare staff for operational scenarios.
Trails staff described storm damage in Greenwood and the Parks Department's response: the Sports Park hosted several displaced teams during a weekend of tournaments (more than 40 teams over a weekend and another weekend with 41–51 teams planned), producing strong concession sales and increased activity at the Sports Park.
Staff also briefly mentioned other outreach events (Arbor Day tree giveaway, senior expo) and requested the board's continued support for event coordination. The Chair thanked staff and noted the reports would be received as presented.
