Veterans-only rehab group seeks local partner to open VA-funded treatment center in Broken Arrow

Representatives from Patriot Rehab told the council they are interested in bringing a veterans-only residential rehabilitation program to the Broken Arrow area and asked the city for assistance identifying an existing facility or partner organization.

Retired Col. Joey Strickland, a partner with Patriot Rehab, said the New Iberia, La., facility is a 28,000-square-foot residential program with private rooms, medical staff and therapists and that Patriot Rehab wants to partner with local social-service organizations to establish a local program. "We're not looking for money," Strickland said. "We have money. We are looking for opportunity." He emphasized that Patriot Rehab works with the federal Department of Veterans Affairs and that reimbursement for services would come from the VA (they said they are a VA CCN facility for reimbursement eligibility).

Jimmy Morgan described the program’s clinical model and said Patriot Rehab has experience running veteran-specific residential services in multiple states, honoring Native American traditions alongside modern therapy. City leaders welcomed the proposal and said staff would help the group explore options, including potential shared space in existing hospitals, nursing homes or addiction-treatment facilities.
