Cornish — During the April 15 Cornish Town Council meeting, town clerk Madi Smith reported an account that typically shows no water usage recorded consumption this month. Smith said Jay, who conducts manual meter reads, completed a read this month but could not confirm when the meter had last been read.
Councilmember Forsgren suggested the usage could be from cattle on the pasture last fall. Smith said Jay offered to turn the meter off for accounts that are not actively using water; Councilmember Brad Fisher cautioned the council that the town charges a turn-off/turn-on fee when meters are shut off and later reactivated. Smith said she will contact the account holder to explain the charge and ask whether they want the meter turned off.
No formal action or ordinance was proposed; the clerk will handle outreach to the account holder and discuss administrative steps with staff.
