A city staff member urged Ann Arbor commuters and residents to plan ahead for lane and road closures tied to this summer’s construction projects and announced the Blake Transit Center will be temporarily closed starting May 3.
The staff member said all resources and timely updates would be posted on the city’s road-and-lane-closures page and the three project pages on Engage Ann Arbor, and urged travelers to consult those pages before driving. “Please refer there for all these links as well as the 3 project pages on engage,” the staff member said.
Travel alternatives and short-trip options: staff advised people to use routing tools to find alternate routes, use park-and-ride lots, take public transit where possible and consider walking, biking, carpooling or renting an e-bike or e-scooter for short trips. The staff member also emphasized allowing extra travel time and parking outside the most active construction zones.
Transit changes: staff said that starting May 3 the Blake Transit Center would be temporarily closed and that all bus stops would be moved to 5th Avenue and Washington Street while work is underway.
