Pryor Creek council swears in new members, approves appointments, surplus sale and hires dispatcher

On the consent agenda the council approved routine items, with Councilmember Autumn Graybill recorded as abstaining on the minutes approval for April 21, 2026. The mayor presented a mayoral appointment of David Schalles to Park Board Seat 1 (term beginning July 31, 2026) to fill the seat vacated by Graybill; after a motion and second the council approved the appointment.
The council reappointed Barbara Hawkins to the hotel‑motel tax allocation board (term expiring 04/30/2028) and Samantha Williams to a related seat (term expiring 04/30/2030); both votes passed. Members also approved declaring the Cardex vertical carousel module in the city clerk’s office as surplus and placing it on Purple Wave for auction; council discussed whether removal will require a contractor if the item sells for more than $2,500.
On procurement, the mayor was authorized to seek sealed bids for mowing and right‑of‑way maintenance; council amended the solicitation timeline so bids would be due by noon Friday, May 22, and opened at the Street Committee meeting on May 26, with the mayor’s staff posting the notice in local papers, on the city website and on the city Facebook page.
An addendum approved at the meeting authorized hiring Jenna Hupfer as a dispatcher for the Pryor Creek Police Department (Range R Step 2) to fill a vacancy created by a resignation. Police leadership said dispatch staffing shortages have driven overtime costs and that the new hire will help stabilize shift coverage.
The council then moved to other agenda items and adjourned.
