The Pine County Board on April 21 approved a slate of Personnel Committee recommendations that included multiple resignations, position backfills, promotions and the creation of a new senior eligibility role in Health & Human Services.
Commissioner Matt Ludwig, reporting for the Personnel Committee, asked the board to ratify the resignation of Grants and Special Programs Coordinator Carolyn White (effective April 3) and the resignation of Deputy Sheriff Simcha Gavzy (effective March 30), and to authorize backfilling those positions. The board approved reassigning Highway Maintenance Worker Jeremy Lemmons to the Mechanic position (grade 8, step 3) at $29.73 per hour, effective April 22, 2026, and approved backfilling two vacant Highway Maintenance Worker positions.
The board also approved hiring an Administrative Assistant (Grade 4, starting wage $21.32/hour) to staff the front desk at the North Pine Government Center and support Planning & Zoning, and authorized the Human Resources Director to negotiate a Memorandum of Agreement with the exclusive representative regarding wages. Health & Human Services actions approved included ratifying the separation of a Child Protection Services social worker, approving an updated Financial Assistance Supervisor job description, creating a Senior Long-Term Care Eligibility Worker position (Grade 8, $26.93–$35.70), and acknowledging the retirement of Fiscal Officer Michelle Kelash effective April 30, 2026 with authorization to backfill the position.
Commissioner Ludwig moved approval of the Personnel Committee recommendations; Chair Josh Mohr seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The transcript records discussion about the Environmental Services administrative assistant position and the Health & Human Services reorganization, and staff were authorized to proceed with the approved hires and job-description updates.
The board did not set exact hiring dates beyond those specified for internal reassignments; hiring remains subject to standard background checks and bargaining-unit negotiations where noted.
