The Milan City Council unanimously approved three formal items at its May 5 meeting: a lease agreement with Milan Senior Healthy Living (MSHL), an easement agreement with Eagle Springs pending City Attorney review, and payment of bills totaling $319,322.55. The council also opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed 2026–27 city budget with no members of the public speaking to the budget.
Councilmember Kerkes moved and Councilmember Gress seconded approval of the lease agreement with Milan Senior Healthy Living; the motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Nie moved and Councilmember Stafford seconded approval of an easement agreement with Eagle Springs subject to review and acceptance by the City Attorney; that motion also carried unanimously. Separately, Councilmember Nie moved and Councilmember Gress seconded a motion to pay bills in the amount of $319,322.55; that motion carried unanimously.
City officials noted the MSHL lease concluded a multi‑year process. Councilmember Dr. Wayne thanked those involved in the four‑year negotiation and said the council was ready to move forward with the fireboard related to associated operational matters. The public hearing on the proposed 2026–27 budget was opened at 7:21 p.m. and closed at 7:23 p.m. after a brief review; no public testimony on the budget was recorded.
The council set its next regular meeting for May 19, 2026, and adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
