The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury deferred two condemnation and demolition agenda items for 30 days at its May 7 meeting after property owners and staff said the structures either were removed or would be moved.
On Item 4c (a manufactured home at 1503 West Pine Meadows Drive, Moss Bluff), James Mouton told the jury he had already torn the house down and asked for time to finish removing or replace related structures. "The house is gone. I tore the house down," Mouton said, adding he planned to remove a sunroom and move another manufactured home into the lot and would obtain required permits. Parish staff (Crane) told the jury Mouton planned to move a manufactured home into place and agreed to seek permits and inspections.
After Mouton and staff agreed to coordinate, the jury approved a 30‑day deferral to allow him to work with parish permitting staff.
On a separate item concerning a house and manufactured home at 2907 Renee Street, Lake Charles, a speaker said the trailer would be moved (the speaker said the home would go to Mississippi) and asked for at least 30 days to arrange the move; the jury deferred that item for 30 days as well.
The jury recorded motions to defer and instructed property owners to follow up with parish staff for permitting and inspections.
