North Haledon attorney files lis pendens; several administrative items and public comments previewed

Borough Attorney Michael De Marco told the council at the May 18 work session that he filed a notice of Lis Pendens in the matter captioned Borough of North Haledon v. Kurt Faber and Kelly Anne Faber, pending in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Passaic County. The minutes state the filing was made with the Passaic County Clerk.
De Marco also reported he is contesting a claimant's disability benefits claim (Terranova) and that MIB Builders' performance bond cannot be released until the borough receives an executed assignment between MIB and the new owner. The minutes record an ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Commission) order denying relief sought by Wizards Pub, which the commission said meant the license 'has lapsed and ceased to exist as of June 30, 2014.'
During communications and public comment, resident John DeBlock criticized a proposal to rename Squaw Brook, saying changing the name 'would be harming the native people because the tribute to the woman who killed herself would be lost.' Property owner Michael Celuch praised the Department of Public Works for work at 9 Robinson Court. The minutes also show that several personnel- and event-related resolutions (including a promotion for Chief Todd Darby and an approval for the Motorama Car Show) were placed on the agenda for the upcoming council meeting.
