The Swanzey selectboard approved ordering a 2026 Ford F-350 XL pickup truck and authorized up to $80,000 from the Highway and Cemetery equipment capital reserve fund to pay for the vehicle and necessary outfitting, including radio installation.
Speaker 5 (public works/highway presenter) said the truck was put out to bid using the state contract and that the lowest responsive bid is approximately $77,000; speaker 5 asked the board to authorize spending up to the $80,000 budget to outfit the vehicle. Chair (speaker 3) moved to approve the purchase and to authorize the funds, the motion was seconded, and members supported the purchase by voice vote. A delivery window of six to eight weeks was discussed.
Why it matters: the vehicle is a capital purchase from an existing reserve fund intended to support highway and cemetery operations. Board members asked a few clarification questions about color and delivery and then approved the authorization so vendor ordering can proceed.
What’s next: staff will proceed with ordering under the state contract and schedule delivery and outfitting with DPW.
