County attorney reports animal-control workload, record hazardous-waste turnout; budget first reading set for May 4

County Attorney Nicole Workman, who filled in for absent County Administrator Brian Hester at the April 20 Chester County Council meeting, reported several operational updates and milestones.
Workman recognized Animal Control Appreciation Week and said the county’s animal-control officers responded to more than 2,662 calls for service and served over 1,400 animals in the last year, citing those figures to highlight staff workload and training accomplishments. She said each officer received a pin holder to display training and certification pins earned through animal-control professional-development programs.
Workman also reported that the county’s household hazardous-waste collection day on April 11 served a record 246 vehicles. She told council that the first reading of the budget ordinance will take place at the next council meeting on May 4 and noted that phase one of the Chamber Building wall project is complete.
