Chair Julie Bickelhaupt presented a Martin and Company Excavating contract to place asphalt on Georgetown Road (from Stone Bridge Road to Illinois 73) for $176,000 using Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds; County Engineer Sara Renkes explained project details and anticipated use of MFT funding. Susan Jacobs moved to approve and Christopher Flikkema seconded; roll call showed seven ayes and the motion carried.
The board approved two additional MFT-funded projects: removal and asphalt placement at two culvert locations on Ideal Road for $10,332 (motion by Jacobs; second by Flikkema) and a pavement‑marking contract with America’s Parking Remarking LLC for $32,975.44 (motion by Jacobs; second by David Soldat). Both motions passed by unanimous roll call votes.
Separately, the board approved a revised design contract with Chastain and Associates LLC for $798,528 after Renkes explained the need for the updated scope and cost. Susan Jacobs moved to approve and Melinda Appel seconded; the motion passed unanimously by roll call.
The board also granted bridge aid to two townships: Washington Township received approval for replacement of Culvert Section 6991 on Mill Hollow Road at an estimated $4,320, and Rock Creek Lima Township received approval to replace Culvert Section 23001 on Pioneer Road at an estimated $23,760. The requests were presented by Chair Bickelhaupt with County Engineer Renkes providing explanation. Motions to approve were unanimous.
Finally, the board approved a resolution allocating $11,880 from the county’s Bridge Aid fund; the resolution passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
All votes recorded in the meeting were unanimous in favor. The board’s highway and engineering staff framed the package as routine capital and maintenance work funded by Motor Fuel Tax and township bridge‑aid programs. The projects will proceed under the county’s normal contracting and oversight processes; the board did not set separate implementation deadlines during the meeting.
The board’s next regular meeting will take place May 7, 2026, where additional business including a transportation‑grant bank‑account notice will be taken up.
