The Allegany County Planning & Economic Development Committee took several procedural and action‑oriented steps during its April 15 meeting.
The committee approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Legislator Dwight “Mike” Healy, seconded by Legislator S. Havey, and approved the March 25, 2026 meeting minutes on a motion by Legislator John Ricci, seconded by Legislator W. Meunier.
The committee approved multiple staffing requests and referred them to Ways and Means for processing: permission to fill one full‑time temporary Office Aide in the Planning Department (requested by Director Kier Dirlam) and permission to fill one full‑time temporary Summer Youth Employment and Training Counselor in the Employment and Training Department (requested by Reita Sobeck‑Lynch). Both positions were described with estimated salaries and benefits in the departmental reports and are included in relevant 2026 budgets or program budgets; the summer counselor position is 100% federally funded.
Clerk of the Board Brenda Rigby Riehle informed the committee of intended reappointments to the Southern Tier West Regional Planning Board: Debra Root of Scio and Carissa M. Knapp of Belmont for three‑year terms commencing June 1, 2026; the committee approved and asked the County Attorney to prepare a resolution.
With no further business, the committee adjourned at 11:21 a.m. on a motion by Legislator John Ricci, seconded by Legislator G. Barnes. The Journal Clerk recorded the meeting attendance and approvals.
