The Palmdale City Council voted to award a construction contract to RG General Engineering for the McAdam Park improvement project, with a contract amount presented at $8,048,897 including a 10% contingency.
Public Works staff said the project scope includes new landscaping, a restroom/concession building, storage, parking improvements, pedestrian pathways, renovated baseball fields and lighting, and a new monument sign. Staff said the work will take about one year and that funding is from Measure AB.
Council members praised the project as a long‑awaited neighborhood investment. One council member requested a technical correction to the Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) documentation — specifically, that the letter of assent included with the contract contained incorrect information and that letters of assent for listed subcontractors be provided. Staff said the prime contractor will sign the corrected letter and that subcontractor letters are obtained during the preconstruction meeting and labor‑compliance process.
Council approved the contract unanimously.
What happens next: Staff will ensure the CWA letter and subcontractor acknowledgments are corrected and executed before work begins. Construction is expected to start after the preconstruction phase and continue for roughly one year.
