Dirk Lackovich Van Gorp, Clark County’s grants manager, told the Board of Clark County Commissioners on April 29 that over six years he helped secure roughly $5.6 million in grant funding, primarily from the Ohio Department of Development. He said grant awards included Community Development Block Grant allocations, Critical Infrastructure and Target of Opportunity funds, Lead Safe Ohio support and more than $1.4 million to remediate lead hazards in homes countywide.
Lackovich Van Gorp cited projects supported by grants such as street and drainage improvements across townships, the demolition of the former New Carlisle school site to make way for Habitat for Humanity homes, HVAC upgrades for nonprofits during the COVID period and public-safety improvements for organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank and Rocking Horse Community Health Center. Ethan Harris, Community and Economic Development, said Lackovich Van Gorp is leaving the county for the private sector; Commissioners presented a proclamation honoring his service.
