Clark County approves $85,000 change order after boulders and groundwater slow KTK sewer project

The Board of Clark County Commissioners on Dec. 10 authorized Change Order #1 for the KTK Industrial Park Sewer Connection Project after Utilities staff reported subsurface complications.
Utilities Director Chuck Bauer said crews encountered large boulders and groundwater while installing the sewer pipe; the change order covers installation of a 10-inch diameter sanitary sewer using trenchless construction methods and related sewer realignment. The original contract with Majors Enterprises, Inc. was $544,825; the change adds $84,999 to a new total of $629,824 and extends the contract completion to Feb. 9, 2026.
Commissioners emphasized the project’s importance to connect KTK to the city of Springfield’s wastewater system as the existing plant nears the end of its life. The change order passed unanimously.
