Clark County approves Axon contracts for video redaction, in-car cameras and VR training

The Clark County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 10 authorized a trio of contracts requested by the Sheriff’s Office with Axon Enterprises Inc. to improve body-camera evidence processing and officer training.
The board approved Resolution 2025-0900 to purchase a video redaction module for $40,361.40 (Sourcewell contract) to accelerate manual redaction work tied to public-records requests. Sheriff Chris Clark said the software is law-enforcement specific and would “pay for itself in the first year,” allowing staff to process requests faster and improve transparency.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 2025-0901 for five in-car camera packages ($39,115.05) to bring county patrol vehicles onto an expected attrition replacement schedule. Resolution 2025-0902 authorized a $126,259.81 purchase of a virtual-reality training system funded from the Sheriff Training/Reimbursement Fund; Sheriff Clark said the scenario-based system focuses on mental-health crisis responses and gives deputies insight into other perspectives.
All three motions passed unanimously. The contracts run through April 30, 2029, and county staff said the equipment and software will be integrated with the existing Axon systems the Sheriff’s Office already uses.
