Commissioners remove first-time-homebuyer requirement from $1 million housing grant

The Clark County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 11 approved Grant Amendment #1 with the Clark County Land Reutilization Corporation (CCLRC) for the Creating Affordable Homes for Clark County Residents program.
Under the amendment the board authorized, the county removed the grant agreement requirement that income-qualifying households must be first-time homeowners. The original grant amount — $1,000,000 — and the effective dates of the grant (Dec. 31, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2026) were unchanged.
According to the grant summary presented to commissioners, the program’s stated purpose is to build new, energy-efficient, attractive and affordable homes for purchase by income-qualified Clark County residents to increase the county’s affordable housing stock. The amendment’s removal of a first-time-homeowner restriction broadens the pool of households eligible to purchase homes developed under the program.
Commissioners approved the amendment by motion and authorized the county administrator to execute the amendment and related documents. The motion passed unanimously.
