Commissioners approve contracts for deputies, dispatching and jail services; jail food price increase approved

Separately, the board authorized contract amendment #3 with Trinity Services Group Inc., the county’s jail food services provider, to increase meal prices effective Jan. 10, 2026, and extend the term through July 9, 2026. The amendment directs the County Administrator to execute updated contract documents.
Why it matters: These actions affect county public-safety operations and budgets. The New Carlisle contract is revenue for the sheriff’s office and funds additional deputy staffing for that municipality. The Trinity amendment increases operating costs for inmate meals and temporarily extends the vendor relationship while longer-term arrangements are considered.
What happened: Each contract and amendment was moved by Commissioner Patterson and passed by roll call with Commissioners Lohnes and Rittenhouse voting yes. The board also approved the purchase of a replacement Sheriff’s Office vehicle for $47,700 to replace a wrecked unit.
What comes next: Contracts will be executed by the County Administrator and departments will implement service adjustments. The Trinity amendment takes effect Jan. 10, 2026; the New Carlisle contract runs Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026.
