Belmont County Commissioners on Feb. 25 voted to accept the Tax Incentive Review Council’s annual recommendations to continue enterprise‑zone tax abatements for two entities.
The board recorded that the Tax Incentive Review Council met Feb. 18, 2026, and determined the current abatements are in full compliance with covenants. The commissioners approved continuation of the abatement for Muxie Distributing Company and for Hill International Property – St. Clairsville, LLC for tax year 2026. Commissioner Echemann noted the process is run through the Port Authority and reviewed annually.
Both motions were adopted on unanimous roll call votes. The meeting minutes state the council’s recommendation was approved by the commissioners as presented.
Next steps: continued abatement status remains in effect for tax year 2026, subject to future compliance reviews by the Tax Incentive Review Council and board action.
