Belmont County approves new vehicles for sheriff, job and family services and coroner

The Belmont County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 25 approved several vehicle purchases for county departments.
The board approved purchase of six 2026 Dodge Durangos for the Sheriff's Office from Greve Chrysler Jeep Dodge through the State of Ohio cooperative contract for $372,015. Three of the vehicles are replacements and three are additional units for the fleet. The motion was made at the sheriff’s recommendation and passed unanimously.
For the Department of Job and Family Services, the board approved purchase of two 2026 Honda CR‑Vs from Straub Honda totaling $69,153.20 to be used by Children Services, and approved purchase of a 2025 Honda Accord SE from Lindsay Honda for $30,541 as a replacement vehicle. The purchases will be paid from Children Services S17 funds on the department’s recommendation.
The board also approved a 2026 F‑350 4x4 DS Super Cab truck for the Belmont County Coroner at $52,950 and a specialized utility truck bed for that vehicle at $30,224, both recommended by Dr. Amanda Fisher; the truck is a replacement vehicle.
All motions were made by Commissioner Jerry Echemann, seconded by Commissioner Vince Gianangeli and passed on unanimous roll call votes. The agenda notes identify purchase vendors and that some purchases were made through state cooperative purchasing contracts.
Next steps: departments will complete procurement paperwork and take delivery per vendor and contract terms; funding sources for each purchase were identified in the agenda (state contract, department S17 funds).
